I got off the metro tonight to see this rainbow stretching across Shaw. The picture isn't great (
larger version on flickr), but for the minute that I stood there under the cover of the metro entrance, I felt a bit of hope about the future of this neighborhood. Rainbows seem to be a symbol of hope and joy, in the midst of storms, which seems like something Shaw could use right about now. It reminded me of the story of
Moses Noah, and the rainbow at the end of the great flood, which was a sign of blessing and hope for the future. Wouldn't it be great if this rainbow were a similar sign for our neighborhood?
[edit: a kind reader pointed that it was Noah in the ark, not Moses... oops]
