Shaw of late

It's been a busy month at work, so I haven't posted anything here.  A few notable things have happened.  First, a bike lane magically appeared on Q Street, which caused much rejoicing:

Also, last weekend was the annual United House of Prayer event.  I've been in Shaw for three or four years now, the parades continue to surprise me.  We had to sit and wait for about half an hour to get our car off 6th street, but we had fun watching the parade.

In other news, every time I walk into TG Cigar (on 9th St between L and M) I have a good experience.  The folks who run that place are helpful and friendly.  I highly recommend them.

I actually stopped in my tracks when I was walking home from work the first day they were installed. "Bike lanes in Shaw?!?" I thought, "truly we are no longer 'transitional'... we have transitioned!" Gentrification brought these babies to our doors for sure. Either that, or the city had a ton of extra paint left over and didn't know what else to do with it (..."I know, let's put bike lanes in Shaw, that'll be a hoot...")
